The Yoga instructors at Health Within believe firmly in the healing power of yoga. Movement is an essential part of life that happens on many different levels. Yoga helps bring balance to not only the physical body but the emotional, mental and spiritual bodies that all coexist in the same space and time. When the energies that drive one particular function within your Being become disharmonious, the discord echoes through the other subtle bodies which can create symptoms of discomfort. Attention to detail and a regular yoga practice can help bring awareness to the root of the discomfort allowing for its release.

The yoga classes at Health Within are firmly asana based and generally rooted in the Hatha and Vinyasa Flow traditions. Each instructor specializes in offering multiple options for each posture based on the practitioner's experience level.

The studio was specifically designed to function well for yoga instruction. It is light, airy and warm. Unlike many of the studios in town, our thermostat says next to 70 degrees year round. The radiant floor heating is wonderfully inviting in the heart of winter and still comfortably cool in summer. The air flow is more than sufficient allowing for clean breathable air at any time during your practice. Best of all, there is generally more than enough space for you matt and others.

Yoga Basics

This class is a good starting place for beginners or a practitioner who wants to work on alignment basics to enjoy strength, flexibility, endurance, and relaxation. The class usually begins with gentle body awakening, more intense warm-up in Sun Salutations or Tibetian rites and theme-focused group of poses, ending with relaxation.

Gentle Yoga

This class is offered to people who cannot meet physical demands of intense work-out. Whenever you are new to yoga, or have physical limitations, or just tired, this class will offer gentle and safe practice of mostly seated and supine yoga poses, and breathing techniques for deep relaxation.

All Levels Yoga

This is a strong asana based class with an emphasis on linking movement with the cycle of breath. There is a nice balance between work and relaxation. While there is effort placed in stretching, there is also counter work added with contracting. You will build heat, but it is expected to only take you to your edge. Based on the student's ability, the postures will be modified accordingly. If inversions can be done, they are usually offered but are not a requirement.
